What to expect

Consultations are confidential and take place in a supportive and non-judgemental environment. An initial consultation lasts a minimum of one hour and uses the information gathered to generate a personalised, dietary and lifestyle programme. Achievable and sustainable goals are set, with guidance on how best to reach them.

The initial meeting will include a physical assessment including, where appropriate, weight, waist circumference, blood pressure and arranging blood tests.

There will also be a discussion of factors such as:

  • Health concerns

  • Current diet

  • Activity and exercise levels

  • Lifestyle, including stress and work-life balance

  • Family history

  • Use of any medications and supplements

  • What you want to achieve

Follow-up meeting

This includes, where appropriate:

  • Further blood pressure measurements and a review of progress to date

  • Weight measurement, waist circumference, blood pressure and pulse

  • Review of blood test results, cholesterol level/ratio, blood sugar levels, urinalysis

A follow-up appointment is always recommended to assess progress and deal with any queries or concerns. This typically lasts 40 minutes. For those who feel they may benefit from a more collaborative approach, with regular, positive feedback, and assistance with motivation to implement lifestyle changes, Wendy is happy to discuss individual programmes with shorter, more frequent appointments. These would usually be face-to-face, but it is possible to conduct them by telephone, Skype and other methods.
